Our Standard Booking Conditions


1.0       Booking

1.1       To make a booking please contact us by phone or email. Alterntaively you can complete our booking form and send it to the school via email or post.  We recommend contacting the school for available dates prior to completing a booking form.

1.2       All bookings will be acknowledged by email or phone and once the booking fee has been received a confirmation letter will be sent out via email or post

1.3       We require the outstanding balance for all bookings on or before six weeks prior to the course/charters date commencing.

1.3       We require any security fees for all charters to be paid two weeks before your charter commences.

2.0       Payment

2.1       To secure a booking please send a booking fee of 50% of the full balance. The outstanding balance is required to be paid six week prior to the course date. If the booking is made less than six weeks prior to the booking a full payment is required.

2.2       Payment can be made by most major credit/debit cards, cheque, cash and bank transfer. All credit card transactions will incur a £2.50 credit card surcharge and we don't except American Express. No charge will be incurred for using a debit card.

2.3       Any security fee made by credit or debit card will be charged at a flat rate of 4% of the transaction fee to cover bank fee.

2.4       To make any credit or debit cards transactions please call in at the office or contact us by phone on 01326 211311. Please have your card with you if you are ringing the school.

2.5       Payment by cheque please make the cheques payable to Falmouth School of Sailing or Falmouth Powerboat School Ltd. We require cheques one week prior to payment date to allow for cheques to clear.

2.6       Payment made by cash please pay at the office. Please do not send any cash in the post.

2.7       If you would like to make a bank transfer to cover you payment please contact the school for our bank details.

3.0       Equipment to bring with you for Course

3.1       For all water based activities

We suggest you bring the following items with you, regardless of weather conditions:

      • Suitable footwear
      • (That you can get wet but not flip-flops)
      • Warm tracksuit or similar - not jeans
      • Extra sweater
      • Hat, gloves
      • Notebook and pencil
      • Towel
      • Waterproofs (However good quality wet weather gear and spray tops are available at the school
      • Wetsuits (However wetsuits are available at the school)
      • A change of cloths
      • Passport size photo (powerboat courses only)

3.2        For Shorebased and Specialist activities

We suggest you bring the following items with you.

  • Passport Size photo (VHF/GMDSS only)
  • Course Notebook for the course
  • Portland Plotter and dividers (For navigation courses only)

3.3       For all boat charters you can hire wet weather gear for £15 for the week or £3 per day If you have any questions please contact the school

3.4       We encourage everyone to take their entire equipment home with them. Any equipment that is left after the course/charter will be held for a period of 2 week before being disposed of

4.0       Lunch

4.1       Lunch time 12:30 – 13:30 you will come back to the school for lunch unless arranged otherwise.

4.2       Any person under the age of 18 is under the supervision of the parent or guardian nominated on the Student Medical Consent, Emergency Contact Form. The school dose not accepted any responsibility for any student during the lunch break unless arranged beforehand.

4.3       Lunch is not provided as part of the courses we suggest that you bring a packed lunch or money, there are many pasty shops in the local vicinity and there is a very good café bar on site Falmouth Watersport Centre who will make take away and packed lunch for you if you require. Please contact them to book 01326 211223 and say you are taking part in a course with us.

5.0       Course Timings

5.1       The time for course are                       Morning Session          09:00 or 09:30 – 12:30 Afternoon Session        13:30 – 16:30 Evening Session          18:30 – 21:30

6.0       Personal Conduct and ability

6.1       The Senior Instructor on duty reserves the right to refuse or dismiss any student on any course due to foul language, bad behaviour or anyone who would be a danger to himself or herself or anyone else on the course.

6.2       All students should be able to swim.

6.3       Any student under the suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate on any courses and looses the rights to a refund or re booking of their course and will be escorted of our premise.

7.0       Cancellation and alteration to the booked date

7.1       In the event of you wanting to change the date of your booking please contact the school as soon as possible and we will make every effort to find alternative dates for you. We require a minimum of 48hrs notice to make an amendment. If we cannot find an alternative date please refer to 8.0 Refunds

7.2       In the event of you wishing to cancel your booking please contact us by phone or email in the first instance at least 48hrs prior to your course commencing. You are welcome to send a letter in writing to the office if you are giving two or more weeks notice of cancelling.

7.3       We reserve the right to cancel any of our bookings due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event alternative dates would be offered, if not suitable all course fees will be refunded.

7.4       We can accept no responsibility for the effect that weather conditions may have on our courses. In the event of severe weather forcing cancellation for health and safety reasons you will be given the option of alternative dates subject to availability. Should we not be able to rearrnage an alternative date then a refund would be offered. 

8.0       Refund

8.1       The date in reference to refunds is the date of postage received by Falmouth School of Sailing and Falmouth Powerboat School’ s office not the written cancellation letter.

8.2       Cancellation’s made prior to six weeks of the booked date, the booking fee will be retained and all other payment will be refunded.

8.3       Cancellation’s made six - two weeks prior to the booked date 70% of the full balance will be retained and all other payments will be refunded.

8.4       Cancellation’s made after two week prior to the booked date we regret to inform you there will be no refund.

9.0       Insurance

9.1       All equipment and staff at the school are covered by public liability insurance. The school does not take responsibility for any personal accident or loss of your property. We recommend that you have holiday insurance that covers Watersports.
